In this activity, special education students solve basic addition problems that have a missing addend.  

Life skill correlation: students learn that two numbers add up to a larger number so that when solving real life math problems they can use the inverse relationship of addition and subtraction to solve for a smaller variable then subtracting from a larger number.

• Low - not for this level
• Moderate - solve for blank (1+__=4)
• High - solve for X (1+ X = 4)
