In this activity, special education students match multiplication problems to a picture representation of the multiplication fact. Students comprehend that a set of items as a group and that multiples of that group is associated with a specific number sentences.

Life skill correlation: Students understand that items grouped together can be counted as one set. Grouping of items is used in functional life skill job activities.

Functional Level Differences

• Low - use only X 1, X 2, & X 3 mount all the same multiplication fact family on the same color (need 10 different colors)
• Moderate - all facts, see above for color directions
• High - all facts, mounted on 1 color
